To a person who appreciates cars, but knows nothing about them?
Here's the thing. As some may know, cars in Brazil are very expensive. Even used cars are overpriced (E34 528i? US$20,000. 1998 Civic 1.8? 12,000). And including this long list of overpriced cars, there is the Miata. The few you can find are being sold for around US$20,000 or more. No joke. And I'm talking about 50k miles, 1992.
So, I saw a very, very well kept dark blue 1st gen Miata today while walking to a restaurant for lunch with a female co worker who likes cars as a concept, but hasn't driven anything that isn't either a Fiat Punto or a Honda Fit. I squeed audibly when I saw that cute little miata. Such a rare sight and so pretty.
She asked me why I was so excited about it, while even being well kept it's a car that's visually not so appealing. I tried to explain the concept of enjoyment, RWD and lightness. But I couldn't find a way. Any ideas?
A video that sums this idea would be good.

That's usually the best option. But no one has them here. They're very rare.

Enjoyment through a set of physical senses. Stimulation. Feeling the road, because the car is too sharp-edged and light to blunt it away. Compare it to rubbing different kinds of animal, perhaps, or careful choice of fabrics.
Direct response. Sending an input, and receiving immediate feedback - feeling and seeing what you do. Compare driving in a taut car to calligraphy, carving, painting, even tai chi.
In short, it offers an experience, if one opens eyes, ears, and body to it.

My boyfriend has a Mustang and a Miata, I grew up in a Ferd family and at the moment I have an XJ and an FZ6. I may never understand the Miata, but I can understand what it's like to love something that everyone else thinks is a shitwagon!

I am not a big Miata guy but a buddy of mine had one with a rotary swap. Big boy Go-Kart fit that vehicle perfectly.

But as a biker you can understand the concept of the enjoyment of a light, sharp vehicle. How does one put that into words?

The concept of RWD > FWD is already in her mind. Her brother is a Muscle Car aficionado.
Edit: Actually, that kind of makes it easier. I'll compare it to her brother's car.
Thanks!

No problem, this little skit always cracked me up. IIRC Jeremy Clarkson has a similar quote that is about why enthusiasts enjoy oversteer versus understeer, but I can't find it for the life of me. Maybe it was a Chris Harris quote, I'm not sure.

Best I could ever come up with was something like "Well, have you ever driven a Formula one car? No? Yeah, me neither.. (Cries internally)"
